Our Mission

The Albemarle Pipes and Drums is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Charlottesville, VA. Steeped in the rich Scotch-Irish heritage of the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Valley, we are dedicated to the preservation, education, and promotion of the music of the Great Highland Bagpipes and Drums in our community through performances in local festivals, parades, and events as well as instruction and mentorship to band members.

Our History

From 2003 to 2007, the band operated in association with the Albemarle Sheriff’s Department. To expand its focus, the band became independent in 2008 and has grown to include members from across Central VA.
